Colin Powell’s 2003 speech for the United Nations seems to be the iconic start of an ongoing war, that up to today, did not only put the Iraqi region but cities all over the world on fire.
Apart from the content, his performance is an outstanding one. Almost musical, like a tantra. Self-assured American rhetoric at its best. Smooth dude Powell swings, seduces, curls, coos and begs you to come to a place of which you never thought you’d go to.
In 2005, Powell states that he regrets his UN speech. ‘’This performance is a stain on my political career,’’ he declares in an interview at television station ABC. ‘’There were people at the secret service who knew at the time that some sources were not reliable and they did not tell me. It destroyed me.’’
